Remove seeve pop ups
media-motors.net produce adware applications to deliver pop up advertisements. They are often, (but not always) installed with other Malware, aurora is a common partner. any additional malware will need to be removed separately.seeve.exe is a process that identifies one of their applications. It adds a registry key to make sure it runs each time the computer is started. If it is detected and removed by malware scanners, it will almost immediately re-install itself.
Preparations
you will need -
Hijack This, by Merijn. direct download from Here Important - download into its own file on your hard drive otherwise back ups of deleted files cannot be created. how to.
Killbox, from the good people at Bleepingcomputer.com. Click here, download to your desktop.
Right click the zipped file icon on your desktop for Killbox and select Open. Extract the files ready for use
Ace Utilities (free trial), a comprehensive disk and registry cleaner to remove the remnants.
Cautionary note : This collection of cleaning tool includes Remove Duplicate files, Remove Empty folders and Auto-Start manager. these options should not be attempted unless you are fully able to understand and investigate the output. Acting on a misinterpretation of the results could result in damage to your System.
Removal procedure.
1) Set Windows to show hidden files and folders. How to.
2) Restart your computer in safe mode. Help.
3) Open Hijack this and perform a system scan
4) Find the following entries and click to put a check mark in their adjoining box ( if present).
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [seeve] C:\WINDOWS\seeve.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [seeve] C:\WINNIT\seeve.exe
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.media-motor.net
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.popuppers.com
NOTE : there will only be one 04 entry, it will be show either C:\Windows\seeve.exe or C:\WINNIT\seeve.exe depending on which version of Windows you use, remember the file path to use shortly.
click Fix.
Close Hijack this.
5) Open Killbox from your desktop.
Copy and Paste whichever file path was shown in your Hijack this scan into the box marked Paste Full path of File to Delete
C:\WINDOWS\seeve.exe
C:\WINNIT\seeve.exe
Click the Kill file button to restart your computer.
If for any reason your system does not reboot, them close down and restart manually.
6) Open Ace utilities
Click clean up , select remove Junk Files. Scan and delete everything found. Close the remove junk files box.
Select Clean system registry. Click options and select Thorough. Scan and delete everything found. Close the Clean system registry box.
Select Delete History, click the Windows tab and select the following-
Empty the Windows Prefetch Folder.
Delete empty folders on the Windows Temp folder.
Erase Folder streams in the Windows registry.
Click Execute Now
Click the internet Explorer/MSN tab and select the following-
Delete cookies
Delete locked URL cache file.
Delete all auto-complete Data.
Clear typed URL's of Address bar
Clear Browser History
Delete Cache (Files in temporary Internet folder)
Click Execute Now.
The seeve version of the media_motors program will now be removed.
